From the fashion genre I chose a photo taken by the notable Italian fashion photographer, Paolo Roversi from Italian Vogue (2004). In photo, the illustration is naked. She is sitting on her knees, carrying a long white clothe, which flows wad onto the floor. The forge, Natalia Vodianovas big, long and messy hair makes her body very dispirited in comparison. There is an interesting contradiction that lies in the Roversis portrayal of Vodianova - while simplistic, there is a difficulty and complexity entangled in searching to understand what the subjects exact feelings are, which creates both a mysterious mood and thus lures the reader. One of the interesting features of the exhibit is the fact that the model carries the dress instead, as opposed to corrosion it which adds to the appeal and thus success of the photo.
My first impression of the model is that she is not happy as her face gives the impression of being quite strained.
She also carries a wedding dress further she doesnt carry the elegance or poise of a bride, in rather a dramatic contrast, she looks wild and childish. Assuming this is a wedding dress, it seems that in trying on the wedding dress - or rather, in caressing the wedding dress in a seemingly longing way - she attempts, or longs to try somebody elses life, but consequently feels unhappy as it reinforces the fact that it isnt her dress, or her life.
I like the way in which Roversi chooses to usage a simple and clear composition; there is hardly a model and a dress in the photo, no backdrop of decorations, which thus centers the photo around nature - a feature distinctively unique among fashion photography whilst even appearing very saturated.
