In high school I was introduced to the Peer Mediation group by my guidance counselor. at bottom the first year of participating in the group I found comfort, a sense of purpose and understood that the techniques I used in a mediation session were facilitative to my peers and at times even my family members. There was a disco biscuit year gap from graduating high school and my first semester in college. When I made the decision to better my education and puzzle a career that could allow me to be helpful to my community, the advocate/social work field is where I felt could be productive. Attending this introduction to counseling course has opened my instinct and sparked further interest in the field of counseling. While larn the different theories of Carl Rodgers, Sigmund Freud and Victor Frankel I initially gravitated toward Rodgers humanistic and phenomenological approach. Rodgers brain and development of self concept is a concept I would incorporate I my own framework. Frankels theory of the power to assign a personal meaning to the experience could in like manner be helpful in the clients therapy process. With using those theories in appendage with the development plan for the desired goal of each client, as I learned in this class, would be helpful with developing a strategy for my framework.
In class we discussed an example of behaviour control strategy. That discussion helped me understand the greatness of conditioning for autocratic behavior. Learning the rules of choice and how guiding to a solution, understanding the importance of positive and negative reinforcement are essential in the relationship between counselor and client helped me with developing ethical strategies for a course of action in counseling sessions. head the client to choose how they will handle challenging situations is the some effective approach to finding a solution for them.
