Wrights first book of poetry, The Moving Image was promulgated in 1946 while she was working as a seek officer at the University of Queensland. In 1950 she moved to Mount Tamborine, Queensland, with old salt McKinney a novelist and philosopher, which they then had their daughter Meredith born in the equal year. As wholesome as a poet, she was also well known for her environmentalist campaigning in support of the conservation of the Great roadblock Reef and Fraser Island. With some friends, she found one of the earliest constitution conservation movements.
